Another user saw this the other day <https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/issues/13353>
I couldn't repro, and they said when they tried again it just worked.
I'd guess the terminal is getting in some strange mode, but seems odd that we're only getting these reports around `pulumi new`

Went over issue's cycle, and seems as the issue author says (issue happen when running on PowerShell terminal)

Yeh it seemed a powershell issue, but I tried in powershell and it worked, and when they tried again it just worked. So not sure what's actually wrong.

should I reissue it on the same thread? Do you think it will benefit their record or Should I leave it as it is?

Worth leaving a comment, if just to record that it didn't just happen to one user once. If you can think of anything that might be a hint here leave that as well.
