Is it possible to configure backend in the stack level? I'm thinking about to use different S3 buckets for different stacks but looks like the backend URL should be configured just in the project level. Am I missing something? Thank you.

You’re correct---the backend is configured at the project level.

No way to configure it at the stack level as far as I am aware, and I haven’t heard anything about it being on the roadmap. You could check issues on <https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi> to see if there’s an issue already (upvote it if so and create one if not).
