Pulumi keeps state backups. Can't you just revert the stacks to the last working backup?

Thanks mate - that sounds encouraging. I'm not familiar with how to rollback - I do see that I can download the checkpoints from <http://app.pulumi.com|app.pulumi.com> - do I just import that back into the stack??
