EKS v3 is in the works and the first alpha is available for testing: `v3.0.0-alpha.7`

The improvements include native support for new operating systems (AL2023, Bottlerocket), simplified cluster management with EKS addons, the ability to integrate with Cluster Autoscaler and many more.
