why does pulumi add random suffix to bucket name?

so Pulumi manages those aliases for me? means if Pulumi service is not available I will not be able to access those resources by their logical names?
e.g. in air gapped environment or when pulumi has downtime

no, the names are generated locally
But if you use the Pulumi service and it’s down (hopefully not often), you won’t be able to do new updates

I mean how would that result in same name on other machines? its MD5 or smth?

It’s a consistent hash based on the project, stack name, and something else which I don’t remember…

Can be Pulumi service, S3, Azure Storage, or local file, but that doesn’t affect the hash generation
