Greetings. I am curious about the long-term plan for pulumi. Will there always be an open source (and free) component to use for building infrastructure? Trying to stay clear of great solutions that will eventually force you to pay for something. Totally understand the higher-tier subscription models though. Like ansible enterprise or chef enterprise. Thanks!

Absolutely! All of the CLI, engine, providers, libraries, and more are Apache 2 licensed, and we have a free tier of the Pulumi service for users who want to use that (you can also use a local backend at which point you are using 100% open source). We are completely committed to enabling a vibrant open source ecosystem for all of these Pulumi projects - we can only succeed if the open source project and community succeeds.
