I think mysql is a jerk about `localhost` try `127.0.0.1`

Okay I think I tried "127.0.0.1:6612" on the 7th but I retryied it anyway:
still getting:  Could not connect to server: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:3306: connect: connection refused

how is your bastion tunnel setup to forward the port to local?

I use the same localport for forwarding... It is actually parsed from my pulumi.dev.yaml config file

I do not think its the tunnel becaus using dbeaver even when using a different port i could connect
