The issue with cross cloud is two-fold: they don't all implement the same features and some features are implemented with different underlying concepts. As a result cross-platform cloud means you have to target lowest-common denominator. The result is feature-poor and possibly insecure.

So basically if you want to go cross cloud, setup plain ole boring vms and provision those with a team of experts who know how to properly setup kube via multi cloud, and for now just worry about single cloud basically

It's not great right now. You'll probably see some sort of common functionality support from Google and Azure in an attempt to compete with AWS. Then, if it gains traction, AWS might finally sign on. But that's future, not current.
