As I understand it:
* The 238Mb plugin is everything needed to talk to the providers. The binaries (built from golang), including alicloud's own SDK, etc. Essentially, it is the alicloud CLI, wrapped for use by Pulumi. Any Pulumi program, in any language, can talk to it via a language-specific API.
* The 6.7Mb Node.js module is that language-specific API.
