The /ai page was really helpful in allowing me to scaffold creation of AWS resources (not 100% accurate but good enough) - equally as important it was quick and direct. I don't know what neo is up to, but it is way more than I need or want (yes, lots of "ifs", "buts", and "maybes") - at least until I can wrap my head properly around this agents thing. I can go back to doing it the old fashioned way... mostly (there are bits of AWS that seem designed to frustrate a person!) but are there any other options?

Hey @some-flower-64874 Give neo a try. Also claude code can write some good pulumi code ( and some skills exist to help https://www.pulumi.com/docs/ai/skills/ ) Even chatgpt can get you started, if you aren't into the agentic coding.

I had already logged in and started neo and it was... doing all the agentic stuff where /ai would already have given me a useable place to start, probably with some adjustments, at least twice. Also not clear to me to what extent it is "free" and to what extent not. I don't doubt that there is an impressive level of capability in there and I probably would like to explore that at some point, but right now what I needed was enough to get me started. Quickly. As it happens there is an example (possibly with an error or two) that actually is exactly what I want so was not actually a blocker - its more that we've gone from something that had high utility and sat well within my current workflow to something that is very different and probably ought not be used the same way.

Fair enough. You can have Neo generate just some getting started code, although it it does like to do more. So I can see what you mean. And yes, it is not free. We have discussed adding a Neobot to this channel, which maybe would help with your use case. But I don't have a great answer besides using Neo or your coding agent of choice, at the moment.

Pulumi, as an org, should do what is best for Pulumi the org and the tooling 🙂 but with the AI stuff people seem to get a bit blinkered and absolutely assume that everyone is both comfortable with and happy (and able) to use all of this stuff. And it is pushed without consideration for those who have concerns. I am struggling to find time to wrap my head around what is a significant shift (I have a team of Me + 1), whilst actually doing my job - which means neither comfortable nor happy... And there are potentially non-trivial costs involved (which impacts ability). Notwithstanding a few very small contributions some while ago, I am happily using all this for free, so I have no grounds to complain - but at the same time something useful has been taken away and making people aware that that has had an impact is kinda necessary.
