Hi all, is there a way to use Pulumi from the CLI without a Pulumi account? Or does the Pulumi backend infrastructure play a part when deploying stacks?

you don't need a pulumi account
https://www.pulumi.com/docs/intro/concepts/state/#backends
You only need a pulumi account to use the pulumi state backend
you can use an S3-like object store or local filesystem without a pulumi account
