I agree with Ken -- you should be specifying the version explicitly no matter what. Do you see a failure if you try to specify v1.22?

Yes I just tried it and it throws an error:

```* error updating EKS Cluster (shelly-robotics-cluster) version: InvalidParameterException: unsupported Kubernetes version```

Can you confirm which AWS provider you're using, and its version number?
