Just curious to understand.
If we plan to use our own local backend(filesystem), then is it completely free? or do we still need to buy the subscriptions as per the pricing plans mention on Pulumi's website?

Yup the local backends are free and open source. It's only the sass backend which has pricing plans, although it is free to individuals and for small teams you may fit under the free credits per month (allows about 200 resources).

we are currently using terraform in our Organisation. but planning to make a switch to Pulumi. So Im just trying out with small samples and learning the system.

and its very important to understand the pricing models before we actually start using it.

but since it's completely free with local BE,  then its really a worth try
