Hrm or can I reset it by doing a stack export, deleting the resource URN and then `pulumi up`?

Yes - You can remove from the checkpoint file to “forget” the resource and take care of it manually outside of Pulumi. 

You can also `pulumi state delete &lt;urn&gt;` for this.
